WanTing

My Chinese name is 黃莞婷, read as HuangWanTing. In English, "Wan-Ting" happens to be the continuous tense of "want", which I personally think is cool and easy to remember.

As an interaction designer, I believe that good design comes from human-centered thinking and processes, as well as collaboration with diverse people. I seek to create simple and aesthetic interactive experiences by constantly learning, practicing and reflecting about the surprises and routines in life's challenges and adventures.

Before formally devoting myself into the field of Human-Computer Interaction, I got my undergraduate degree in Business Administration at National Taiwan University and served as an economic research assistant in Academia Sinica for one year. Although I come from a business background, I have been passionate about web design, graphic design, digital painting and sketching for more than ten years. All of these contribute to my thoughts of pursuing an HCI master degree, particularly with an emphasis on design. Now as a master's student in the HCI/d program at IU, my life is surrounded by a series of challenging design problems and a cohort of talented people, all of which I consider to be the most fantastic experience I've ever had.

In my daily life, I like to spend wonderful afternoons in coffee shops, in contemplation while people-watching. Latte and black tea with milk are two of my favorite drinks. I also enjoy planning trips to explore unfamiliar cities, defamiliarizing myself from my own perspective and coming up with design insights.
